You've got your old school, private eye detective. You've got your attractive, persistent, and smart assistant. You've got a plot twist that leaves you gaping as the mystery draws to a conclusion. What more could a reader ask for?
Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling) successfully weaves together an intricate plot with enticing and well-described characters to establish a riveting quest for the truth. The author manages to take a long list of characters essential to the story and deliver them in a clear and orderly fashion. As the reader, you are thrown in the thick of the investigation and given ample clues and information to help solve the mystery. (Although, personally, I'm not as talented a private eye as lead character Cormoran Strike and was pleasantly surprised by the ending.) I appreciated the style this novel adopted in developing details and characters elaborately. It made the story all the more real.
I've already got my ear to the ground for the release of the next book in this series (nothing announced at the time this blog was posted). As an avid thriller, mystery, and true detective novel reader, I highly recommend this book.
