The Storyteller
Jodi Picoult takes on the challenge of delving into one of history's most infamous periods. Fictional accounts of the Holocaust are not hard to find, but Picoult puts together a great story, intertwining the lives of characters from both the past and the present, finally leading us to an explosive twist ending that will leave your mind reeling for some time after the final page has its last word.
A large part of this book actually takes place in the past as main character Sage Singer's grandmother recounts the story of her life during World War II. The reader can listen along with Sage and learn about the grueling past that her family endured. Picoult dives right in with the details and doesn't hold back the emotion or the grit. The Storyteller is essentially multiple stories within a story and I think that is where the power of this book is - it shows how powerful a storyteller can really be.
