Cartwheel

Based loosely on the story and trial of Amanda Knox, Cartwheel by Jennifer duBois left my mind spinning from the beginning.

Lily is a quirky student studying abroad in Buenos Aires accused of murdering her beautiful roommate Katy. Cartwheel is recounted through the eyes of multiple characters allowing the reader to investigate the situation from many angles. I was transported into a nightmarish crisis where every piece of evidence points to Lily while simultaneously having a valid explanation as to how it could not be her.

DuBois' writing style allows the reader to know each character intimately. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to experience the same situation through multiple points of view to better draw my own conclusion. The author does an incredible job leaving the reader hanging and wanting to read more. Many nights I did not get the sleep I should have because I had been sucked so deeply into this story.

The ending was completely frustrating; and I mean that in the most admiring and respectful way! A real story is wrapped up with a real ending and has left me wanting to explore this story in greater detail. Fantastically written and very highly recommended!
